get the ball rolling with ‘fizztastic’ homemade rooibos sparkling tea
“Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with friends or loved ones, simple gestures and homemade gifts and meals are often the most meaningful,” comments Laager Rooibos marketing manager Candice Sessions. “A simple picnic with homemade snacks or a home movie night complete with popcorn and sweet and sparkling treats could make for a memorable Valentine’s Day.
These Laager Rooibos sparkling tea recipes will be the perfect accompaniment to your celebrations.
Serve them in your favourite champagne or wine glass with fresh garnishes for the perfect addition to your festivities.
Laager sparkling orange rooibos mocktail

Ingredients (serves two)
- 2 Laager Pure Rooibos teabags
- Juice of 2 oranges
- 2 Tbsp honey
- Ice
- Sparkling water.
Method
- Brew your Laager Pure Rooibos teabags in 400ml boiling water. Allow to cool to room temperature before removing the teabags.
- Add the juice of two oranges and the honey and stir well.
- Split into two glasses filled with ice and top with sparkling water and a slice of fresh orange.
Laager cranberry cherry rooibos mocktail

Ingredients (serves two)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup halved cherries
- 2–3 Laager Cranberry & Wild Cherry Rooibos teabags
- Cranberry-flavoured soda
- ¼ cup pomegranate rubies
- Ice cubes
- Maraschino cherries for garnish.
Method
For the cherry syrup:
- Bring ½ cup water and ½ cup sugar to the boil until sugar has dissolved
- Add cherries and allow to steep for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
For the tea mix:
- Steep 2–3 Laager Cranberry and Wild Cherry teabags in 400ml boiling water for roughly 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, remove teabags and set aside.
To assemble:
- Using a tall glass, paint a strip on the outside with maple syrup and top with crushed Himalayan salt and dried rose petals (optional)
- Add ¼ cup cherry syrup, topped with crushed ice and pomegranate rubies.
- Add tea mix and top with cranberry-flavoured soda (Fitch and Leeds Cheeky Cranberry was used in this recipe).
- Garnish with glitter-dipped maraschino cherries and serve cold.
- Repeat for 2nd glass.
a fun twist on a summer dessert
The Krazy Kiwi Kookbox team have put a fun twist on a summer dessert recipe that is guaranteed to sweeten up your Valentine’s Day. This pavlova is crisp, sweet and just a little tart – just like true love!
Krazy kiwi and raspberry love pavlova
Light, airy, and perfect for summer! The tartness of kiwis and raspberries balances the sweetness.
Ingredients
- 4 large egg whites
- 1 cup castor sugar
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1 tsp cornflour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 250ml fresh cream (whipped)
- 2 fresh kiwis, sliced
- ½ cup fresh raspberries
- ¼ cup passionfruit pulp
- Dark chocolate shavings (optional)
- Edible flowers (for decoration, optional).
Method
- Preheat oven to 120°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whip egg whites until stiff peaks form. Slowly add sugar, a little at a time, beating until glossy.
- Fold in vinegar, cornflour and vanilla.
- Shape the pavlova into a large heart on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 1.5 hours, then turn the oven off and let it cool completely inside.
- Top with whipped cream, then arrange kiwi slices, raspberries, and passionfruit.
- Garnish with dark chocolate shavings and edible flowers for a romantic touch.
- Serve and enjoy this crispy-on-the-outside, marshmallowy-on-the-inside delight!
