The new school calendar for 2020
The government will gazette the official new school calendar for 2020. Some grades have already returned to school. Below are the return dates for the rest of the grades.

Below is a breakdown of the phased-in approach for the learners to return to school.

School of Skills: Year 4
6 July 2020
Early Childhood Development (ECD)
School of Skills: Years 2 and 3
Schools for Learners with Severe Intellectual Disabilities (SID): Grades R, 1, 2, 3 and 6.
Special Care Centres for Learners with Severe and Profound Intellectual Disabilities
(LSPID): Years 1-3
3 August 2020
School of Skills: Year 1
Schools for Learners with Severe Intellectual Disabilities (SID): Grades 4 and 5
School calendar – revised term and holiday dates for 2020
The second term, which officially began on Monday 8 June for Grade 7 and Grade 12 students will run until 7 August. There will be a short break, with learners returning to start the next term on 12 August. Term 4 will have 52 school days over 10 weeks.
