Mini Makers Summer Food Holiday Programme for Kids
The Mini Makers Summer Food Holiday Programme for kids returns this school holidays starting from Thursday, 15 December 2022 until Sunday, 8 January 2023 over at Makers Landing, Cruise Terminal. The aim is to empower food innovators, activists and entrepreneurs aged between 5 -12 years with essential knowledge around food preparation, kitchen basics and much more.
The programme runs daily and costs R225 per day. The daily 2-hour programme includes the following:
- Thurs 15 Dec – Kitchen basics: Get to know kitchen equipment and how it works / Making: Spaghetti and tomato sauce
- Fri 16 Dec – Flavours of the world / Making boerie rolls
- Sat 17 Dec – The rainbow of foods: Green / Making broccoli cheese cups
- Sun 18 Dec – Baking: Making a cake for the holidays’
- Mon 19 Dec – Making a gingerbread house from scratch
- Tue 20 Dec – The difference between fruits and veg / Making smoothies
- Thurs 22 Dec – Kitchen basics: Get to know spices / Making spicy festive biscuits
- Fri 23 Dec – Making edible festive gifts and take-home gifts
- Thurs 5 Jan – Kitchen basics: Knife skills / Making chakalaka
- Fri 6 Jan – Kitchen basics: Get to know herbs / Making green super pancakes
- Sat 7 Jan – The science of baking / Making focaccia bread
- Sun 8 Jan – Making: Step-by-step apple crumble
