The Railway Children

The Railway Children is a timeless classic reimagined for a new generation in this heartfelt and visually engaging production by the National Children’s Theatre.
Step into the world of The Railway Children, a moving and unforgettable story that speaks just as powerfully today as it did when it was first told.
Follow the journey of three siblings—Bobbie, Peter, and Phyllis—who are sent to live in the countryside at a house near a railway. As they adjust to a life far removed from the one they knew, they discover new friendships, hidden strength, and the importance of kindness and community. Their bond with a kind old gentleman who takes the 9:15 train every morning becomes central to their lives in unexpected and heartwarming ways.
Told through the eyes of the children themselves, this unique production explores themes of resilience, family, generosity, and the courage it takes to adapt in the face of sudden change. Audiences will be moved by its gentle handling of complex issues such as poverty, racism, the effects of war, and the experience of displaced people—presented in a way that is both thoughtful and accessible for children, families, and schools.
This production is ideal for audiences aged 7 and up, offering a rich, emotional, and inspiring theatre experience for all.
