Art classes run by Sue Nepgen [MPhil in Education (Teaching) UCT]

Children and teenagers from any school, as well as parents, grandparents and other adults we know attend classes once a week, where the emphasis is on fostering creativity, self-esteem and enjoyment of art, while learning techniques and a sense of aesthetics. On offer are a variety of media, themes and 2-D and 3-D projects, including those about the natural environment (Sue’s speciality), and inspired by South African and other artists, as well as current exhibitions and topics. The first term’s programme will be chosen from : outdoor sketching; painting with plant pigments; papier mache sculpture; an exciting creative clay work project; a stimulating architectural project; drawing and painting on personal themes; drawing with ink; etching; mixed media pictures; as well as creative artistic collage.Classes take place during the term on Thursday or Friday afternoons; also Saturday mornings. The first term’s classes start 24th, 25th and 26th January. Participants can join in at any stage.
